On today’s episode: the weekly livestock market update; the latest Cattle Chat podcast from the Beef Cattle Institute at K-State; agriculture news, and the latest “Tree Tales”; Kansas 4-H families can host visiting students from Japan this summer…

Agriculture Today is a daily program featuring Kansas State University agricultural specialists and other experts examining ag issues facing Kansas and the nation. It is hosted by Eric Atkinson and distributed to radio stations throughout Kansas and as a daily podcast.

00:01:29 – Livestock Market Update:  Livestock economist Lee Schulz of Iowa State University provides this week's insight on the cattle markets:  he reviews the USDA's Cattle-on-Feed report from last Friday, and talks about what the sharp rally in the hog market means to the cattle trade, which he thinks could have a lasting impact as China continues to need pork imports from the U.S.

00:13:01 – Beef Cattle Institute Podcast:  Excerpts from the latest Cattle Chat podcast from the Beef Cattle Institute at K-State:  this time, veterinarians Bob Larson and Brad White talk about two timely cow-calf management topics:  analyzing calf abortion problems in the herd, and managing cows following calving toward a regular cycling pattern going into spring breeding.

00:24:30 – Ag News:  Eric Atkinson covers the day's agricultural news headlines, and the Kansas Forest Service presents this week's edition of "Tree Tales."

00:33:01 – Summer Visitors from Japan:  K-State 4-H specialist Deryl Waldren talks about the opportunities for Kansas 4-H families to host Japanese students this summer under the I-F-Y-E program.
