00:01:30 – Livestock Market Update:  Livestock economist Derrell Peel of Oklahoma State University provides this week's insight on the cattle markets: he looks ahead to what he considers the most pivotal factors in the cattle markets in 2020, and he advises cow-calf producers to look back at this past production year to identify where they could make economic improvements in their herd production, input management and marketing.

00:12:54 – Foot and Mouth Disease Research:  K-State veterinarians Mike Sanderson and Juergen Richt talk about their new research initiatives on contending with foot-and-mouth disease, backed by sizeable new USDA grants: one of the projects will develop a simulation of a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in the U.S., identifying means of controlling it...the other will work to develop vaccines that will work comprehensively against the various strains of the F-M-D virus.
