On today’s episode: Fighting soil compaction; guarding your farm data; the latest agricultural news; fall tree planting…

Agriculture Today is a daily program featuring Kansas State University agricultural specialists and other experts examining ag issues facing Kansas and the nation. It is hosted by Eric Atkinson and distributed to radio stations throughout Kansas and as a daily podcast.

00:01:30 – Fighting Soil Compaction:  K-State soil management specialist DeAnn Presley talks about identifying soil compaction problems in crop fields during and following fall harvest...she offers some thoughts on navigating fields during harvest to minimize the chances of compacting soils, and talks about what's practical in addressing compaction problems.

00:13:00 – Guarding Your Farm Data:  K-State precision agricultural economist Terry Griffin discusses some of the current thinking on the ownership of farm data, and whether producers would be wise to "go off the grid" with their data...he maintains that the value of that data diminishes greatly by isolating it in an attempt to keep it private.

00:24:30 – Ag News:  Eric Atkinson covers the day's agricultural news headlines, and Greg Akagi has this week’s Kansas soybean update.

00:33:01 – Fall Tree Planting:  K-State ornamental horticulturist Jason Griffin offers guidelines on selecting and planting landscape trees in the fall.
